Coolidge Solar Center

About the project

Located in Pinal County, Arizona the 150 MWac Coolidge Solar Center project will generate enough energy to power 28,500 homes per year; helping meet the energy needs of Arizonans during peak demand periods with pollution-free electricity. Ørsted, a leading developer of wind and solar projects across the United States, will construct, own, and operate the project.

The project is a long-term asset for Ørsted and the local community. The Coolidge Solar Center project creates value for landowners while generating tax revenue for the community. The development and construction of the project will create approximately 300 jobs and the operation of the site will generate more than $20 million in local property tax revenue.

Property Value, Health, and Safety

Solar energy is booming across the country, already generating enough electricity to power more than 13 million homes. The largest questions about this burgeoning technology have already been answered by the best science, studies, and analyses. Solar energy generates electricity without the air and water pollution of other fuel sources, and water usage is comparable or less than that of traditional fuel sources. Solar energy is inexhaustible and has no negative impact on human health.

Moreover, the findings over the past decade from property assessors, academics, and researchers are consistently clear: solar arrays have no measurable impact on the value of adjacent properties. Solar sites do not negatively impact property values in the same way as other developments because they are clean, unobtrusive, odor-free, quiet, and safe facilities.

The Coolidge Solar Project will generate more than $20 million in property tax revenue over its lifetime

Why Coolidge Solar Center?

Arizona is one of the nation’s leaders in solar-powered electricity, generating enough energy to power 570,000 homes and create 7,500 jobs at 450 companies across the state. In Pinal County, the Coolidge Solar Center project will generate approximately $20 million in property tax revenue over its lifetime, benefiting the Coolidge Unified School District and the City of Coolidge. Construction will create approximately 300 temporary jobs.

The Coolidge Solar Center project will secure affordable energy and clean air for Pinal County. It will ensure that landowners can optimize the economic potential of their land holdings by generating income for their families and creating revenue for the community for generations to come.

About Ørsted

Ørsted is a global renewable energy company with operations in Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. Publicly traded since 2016 and headquartered in Denmark, Ørsted develops, constructs, owns and operates offshore and onshore utility-scale wind farms, solar, energy storage facilities and bioenergy plants and provides energy products to its customers. In the United States, Ørsted’s renewable energy portfolio spans technologies and geographies with onshore wind, offshore wind, solar and storage in operation or construction across Texas, the Midwest and Northeast markets. Of Ørsted’s 8GW of global installed capacity, we have 1.3GW of onshore wind in the US with a further 0.8GW under construction. In addition, we have 460MWAC of solar PV and battery storage under construction. By 2025 we aim to have at least 5GW operational onshore capacity across the country. Ørsted has the ambition to be a global green energy major in the rapidly expanding renewable energy market with 30 gigawatts of installed capacity by 2030, enough to power the lives of more than 55 million people.
